Diary - row breaks out over allocation of military accommodation

I had been due to head to the Commons, but a number of factors, including the fact we were on a one-line, led me to remain in Dorset, heading to London in the evening. There was a lot going on, both in the constituency and up in London.

PR: Support hospitality and tourism, Drax tells Chancellor

Richard Drax, MP for South Dorset, has backed calls for more government support for hospitality and tourism.

In a letter to the Chancellor, Drax has joined other MPs in asking for ‘a clear pathway for business rates in England up to April 2026.’

The weather today rather reflected the political mood following last night's chaotic scenes in the Commons. The Prime Minister said Sir Lindsay Hoyle's decision to depart from convention during a debate on the Gaza conflict was "very concerning".

Oh dear! Not the most dignified days in the Commons. The day ended in chaos, but more of that later. An early morning run and then a savage haircut - a hangover from my army days - began a rather damp day.
